Vortia 3D does not stand still. When a regulation changes, a bug turns up or an improvement makes sense, the app is updated and you will see it here.
Up-to-date regulations
I follow changes to the Spanish RITE and CTE and to the EN standards used in the calculation, and adapt the app when they are published.
Bugs fixed
If something does not add up, it is checked and fixed. Every fix is recorded on this page.
No reinstalling
The app updates itself: when you open it you always have the latest version, and your projects are kept.
Our journey
The idea
Years of calculating networks with software that neither draws nor simulates. The idea comes up: a tool that calculates rigorously and shows the client the airflow.
First sketch
The components, calculations and look are defined: build the network as on site and see the air in 3D.
First line of code
Development starts: the pressure drop calculation engine and the first simulation of air in ducts.
First public version
Vortia 3D v1.0 goes live on the website: calculation, 3D simulation, technical reports and Free, Pro and Master plans.
Changelog
FixImprovement
Update of 26 October 2026
Calculation reviewed against an independent calculation. Full technical audit: 90° converging tees now follow Idelchik (they used to give more loss than real), rectangular bends use their ASHRAE table, the fan curve is corrected for air density and, when the curve includes power, the SFP comes from it. New RITE warnings (airtightness, SFP and pressure drops in attenuators and return grilles).
Stronger security. Security review of the app, the website and accounts: 3D links, CSV and DXF files protected against tampered content, PDF plans opened safely and content security policy enforced.
ImprovementRegulations
Update of 24 October 2026
Downloads generated on the server. The report, the quotation, the cutting list, the CSV files and the BC3 are now generated on the Vortia 3D server with your licence (a connection is needed to download; designing and calculating still works offline) and PDFs carry your licence identification.
Europe mode: airflow rates per EN 16798-1. For projects outside Spain: choose «Europe (EN 16798-1)» in the project or in the assistant and airflow rates follow the category (I–IV) and building emissions, with dwellings by their own table; the report and the design report state the standard used.

Update of 23 October 2026
Vortia 3D in English. The app, the PDF report, the AI design report and the website, in British English, with the Spanish regulations explained. ES / CA / EN button.
Easier 3D link on mobile. Your client sees the network almost full screen and can reach the AR button easily.
Fire dampers placed automatically. One click fits a fire damper at every floor slab penetration, and in the assistant, if each floor is a fire compartment, the riser already comes with one.
Car parks with two networks. From 15 spaces per floor, the assistant creates the two extract networks required by the Spanish DB HS 3, each with its own fan.
Circular or rectangular alternative. Energy use and alternatives also compares your network converted to rectangular (same area) or to circular (equivalent Ø).
Energy use and alternatives. Results gives the fan’s kWh, cost and CO₂ per year and compares your network with the same one a size larger or smaller, or with alternatives you save: investment, noise, energy and total cost over the years you choose.
Workshop cutting list with QR labels. With Pro: tubes and cuts by diameter, rectangular sheet metal sections and developed sizes, boards and tape for mineral wool duct, and a QR label per component.
Fire dampers and cleaning access doors. New “Fire damper” component (Spanish CTE DB-SI) with its pressure drop, a warning at floor slab penetrations, and cleaning access doors to EN 12097 in the quantities, the IFC and the design report.
Client proposal. With Pro, a two-page PDF for the end client: 3D image, noise, energy use, what is included and a quotation with VAT and an acceptance signature.
Augmented reality. “AR” button: the network at full scale in the room, at ceiling height, through your phone camera (Android and iPhone). Also in the 3D link for the client.
Client comments and approval. In the 3D link, your client comments on each component or approves the design and sends you back a link with everything. Nothing is uploaded to any server.
Car parks. Car park template in the assistant with the rules of the Spanish DB HS 3 (networks, openings, CO detection) and an option for DB SI smoke control (150 l/s per space).
DXF background plan, CAD layers and standard IFC. Load a DXF at full scale under the network, use your practice’s layer names (or the AIA template) when exporting, and the IFC carries the standard buildingSMART property sets.
Zones from Excel. The assistant imports zones from a CSV: floor areas and occupancy, or the airflows straight from your load calculation software.
Curved tee and large networks. The curved tee (with radius) is drawn with its curve in 3D, on the plan and in the IFC, and editing a large network is several times faster.
Case study: 2-floor shop. A new case study and two examples in the app: supply and extract for a shop with a riser, a shared fan or one per floor, fire damper and heat recovery.
MilestoneImprovement
Update of 22 October 2026
Launch price: Pro at €99 a year. Until 31 December, Pro costs €99 + VAT per year and Master from €350. If you subscribe now you keep the price when you renew; from 2027, Pro goes up to €199 a year.
Vortia 3D video guides. A new section with short videos (in Spanish and Catalan) showing each task: assistant, sizing, warnings, results, export and insulation.
Distribution plenum and semi-rigid duct. Star-layout dwelling ventilation: a plenum next to the heat recovery unit with a semi-rigid outlet per valve, adjustment at each valve and a calculation for each branch. The assistant builds it for you.
Summer bypass on the heat recovery unit. The app gives the cooling recovered by day and the free cooling on summer nights with a bypass, and warns if it is missing.
What’s new when you open the app. After each update, the app shows you what has changed since you last opened it.
ImprovementRegulations
Update of 21 October 2026
Balanced ventilation with heat recovery. The fan adds the internal pressure drop of the heat recovery unit, the app gives the air temperature after the heat exchanger and the heat recovered, and checks the minimum efficiency. New “Dwelling with heat recovery” template with supply valves.
Heat recovery from 0.28 m³/s. The assistant’s warning follows the current RITE: heat must be recovered from the exhaust air from 0.28 m³/s, not 0.5.
IFC export (BIM). With Pro, the network is exported to IFC4 with ducts, fittings, dampers, terminals and fan connected, and the airflow, velocity and pressures of each component. It opens in Revit, Archicad, Allplan or Navisworks.
Thermal insulation to RITE. For cold or warm air: minimum thickness, heat losses, temperature reaching each terminal and condensation risk, with a one-click fix.
Quantities in BC3. With Pro, the quantities and your prices are exported in FIEBDC-3 format for Presto, Arquímedes, TCQ and other estimating software.
Sizing by static regain. A new criterion for supply with many outlets: more even pressure at each outlet and less damper to close.
Shop ventilation, including 2-floor shops. The building assistant adds fitting rooms and back rooms, applies the DB SI occupancy for each floor and builds the network with a riser between floors or with one fan per floor.
Version
Vortia 3D 2.1: building assistant
Describe the building and the network builds itself: airflows for each zone according to the Spanish CTE DB HS 3, RITE or RD 486/1997, terminals, sizing, balancing and fan. More than 40 uses.

Update of 19 October 2026
Vortia 3D 2.0: AI design report. With Pro and Master, the project design report drafts itself from your results, editable and included in the report. The AI does not calculate: it only writes with your figures.
3D link for the client. Share the network with a link: your client sees it in 3D on their phone, without installing anything.
Commissioning. Enter the measured airflows and the app tells you how far to close each damper and how much to adjust the fan.
Price list in CSV. Import and download your references and quotation prices, also to share them with your team.
Component panel next to the 3D view. When you tap a component its panel opens alongside, and the top bar is tidier with the “File” menu.
The office example, as an office. Non-residential velocities and noise, the same as in the case study.
The air really turns at tees. The air going into the branch curves in from the wall of the main, and the air carrying straight on is not disturbed.
FixMilestoneImprovement
Update of 18 October 2026
The air follows the duct after bends. It leaves hugging the outer wall and spreads out gradually, without filling the section all at once.
Cleaner smoke at the terminals. With an axial fan without guide vanes, the smoke no longer swirls around diffusers and grilles.
Page for manufacturers. Manufacturers can ask for their products to be included in the app catalogue.
Calibrated façade louvre and extract valve. Pressure drop and noise fitted to a manufacturer’s test tables.
Balancing with diversity. Dampers are set so that they work with everything running and with units switched off.
“How it works” video. Two and a half minutes with subtitles showing the app step by step, in Spanish and Catalan.
ImprovementRegulationsFixMilestone
Update of 17 October 2026
The app in Catalan. Interface, warnings, report, plan and CSV, with the ES / CA button.
Diversity, generic fans and acoustic duct. Units switched off, typical fan curves and duct with internal acoustic lining.
Dwelling valves and DB HS 3 warning. New valves and façade louvres, with a warning about the minimum area in dwellings.
Useless reducers when resizing. Those left with no change of section are removed automatically.
Page for companies. The Master licence explained: several devices, your own logo and priority support.
Improvement

How it calculates, case study and example report. The calculation method explained and a project worked from start to finish.
Technical guides. Pressure drop, sizing, grilles and noise, with worked examples (in Spanish and Catalan).
360° circular diffusers. The air comes out in every direction, as in a real diffuser.
FixImprovement
Update of 15 October 2026
Terminal at the end of the duct. When added before the last terminal, it replaces it in line.
Catalogue of grilles and diffusers. Nine typical models with calculated pressure drop and noise.
Trial report and “What’s new” button. A full report to try Pro and a notice of changes in the app.
A clearer first visit. An example ready when you open the app and a three-step guide.
